Introducing Open Scan’s First Cohort.

We are delighted to announce the participants of our inaugural Open Scan cohort. Having reviewed dozens of applications from civic innovators across the country, we are thrilled to be joined by the following individuals, in order from west to east:

  • Sarah Morgan, Director of Protective Services, Squamish-Lillooet Regional District

  • Katia Tynan, Manager of Resilience, Vancouver

  • Devin LaFleche, Sustainability & Transit Coordinator, Cochrane

  • Heather Galbraith, Program Lead, Resilience & Infrastructure Calgary, Calgary

  • Jaime Brown, Manager, Strategic Foresight and Results, Region of Waterloo

  • Jenny Smith, Director, Corporate Strategy and Performance, Region of Waterloo

  • Jim Bundschuh, Director of Corporate Services, Town of Saugeen Shores

  • Alana Del Greco, Manager, Policy and Government Relations, Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario

  • Lesley-Ann Foulds, Manager, Corporate Initiatives, CAO’s Office, Regional Municipality of Durham

Over the course of four sessions, we’re meeting as a group to discuss trends impacting the future of cities in 2040. Already at our first session, we had a lively discussion about how the concept of the 15-minute city could play out in suburban areas, what vertical farms could mean for urban food security, and how families moving away from urban areas could impact service needs. We look forward to sharing a summary of this and future discussions later this year.

Are you interested in joining a future Open Scan session? Join our waitlist! New session dates will be announced soon.
