Centre for Quality & Design

North York General

North York General is dedicated to continuously improving quality and safety. As such, the organization wanted to update the existing quality and safety framework to make it meaningful for the NYGH community. Creative Futures worked collaboratively with the Quality and People-Centred care team to inform an updated framework and to define and develop the Centre for Quality & Design.

Our Approach:

  • Designed and facilitated a series of co-design sessions with the core project team to develop a comprehensive and accessible description of the Centre for Quality & Design;

  • Designed and supported on-site engagement of staff, patients, physicians, volunteers and other community members used to inform an updated NYGH quality framework;

  • Designed and facilitated a workshop with patient experience partners to obtain their perspectives on the quality framework and how we might define the dimensions of quality for the NYGH community;

  • Designed and facilitated a staff workshop to develop prototypes of an updated quality framework;

  • Designed and facilitated a staff workshop to develop and co-design the mandate and description of the Centre for Quality & Design.

Results:

This project gave the NYGH team momentum on a refreshed quality framework and Centre for Quality & Design by bringing people together and iterating on possible designs. At the end of each workshop, participants felt energized and more aligned about the framework. In addition, as part of the design of the key activities involved in this project, the NYGH team had an opportunity to practice co-design methodologies including short interviews and prototyping.
